Ipswich Trail Makers is a walking trail you open in your phone's browser. There is no account, no sign-in, and we do not ask you for any personal information.
When you scan a sticker, the trail saves that character's short name in your browser's local storage so your collection is still there next time you open it. That list never leaves your phone, and nobody else can see it. Clearing your browser data — or using private browsing — resets the trail.
So we know how well the trail is being used, each sticker scan adds one anonymous line to our own count: which plaque was scanned, the date and time, and whether it was that browser's first visit to that character. Nothing identifies you — no name, no account, no device identifier, no location — and the counts can't be traced back to a person or linked together into a journey.
Pages, images and films are served over the internet by our hosting provider, which keeps standard technical logs (such as the request and rough location of the request) to run and protect the site. Tapping a Directions button opens Google Maps, and any link out to another website — for example the Ipswich Society — is covered by that site's own privacy policy.
The trail is made for families and school groups. Because nothing is collected and there is nothing to sign up for, children can use it without giving away any information.
If you have a question about the trail, its content or this policy, please get in touch with the Wolsey 550 PlaceChangers project team.
